Could This be Why Russia did not Want the US and UK to Liberate Iraq?

Telegraph | News | Revealed: Russia spied on Blair for Saddam

Top secret documents obtained by The Telegraph in Baghdad show that Russia provided Saddam Hussein's regime with wide-ranging assistance in the months leading up to the war, including intelligence on private conversations between Tony Blair and other Western leaders.

Is it Done?

Iraqis Celebrate, Plunder Baghdad Offices (washingtonpost.com)

"I'm 49, but I never lived a single day. Only now will I start living," said Yussuf Abed Kazim, a mosque preacher, as he bashed the statue's pedestal with a sledgehammer, knocking off tile and concrete. "That Saddam Hussein is a murderer and a criminal."

1000s Dead? Probably not.

What was that about 1000s dead, Mrs. Pelosi?

The Battle for Baghdad Over?

BAGHDAD, Iraq — In a scene of triumph and jubilation televised live throughout the world, Iraqi citizens in the heart of Baghdad -- with help from a large U.S. military vehicle -- toppled a huge statue of Saddam Hussein Wednesday and began dancing on it when it fell to the ground.

Plus if You Act Now . . .

Another Great Government Program

And some people out there want to put the government in charge of even more things in their life . . . sheesh.

U.S. sold 23 trucks for 17 cents each

Washington - The Department of Energy has been playing Santa Claus in the Nevada desert, giving away trucks, trailers and a copier for pennies - and expensive laboratory equipment for free.

[Including] Twenty-three light trucks that had cost $447,932 in all. Although some needed repairs, all were listed in good condition. The Nevada Test Site sold them for an average of 17 cents each.

Thanks to Neal Boortz for the heads up on this one.

Tongue Tied Comment

Sauce for the goose?

From Foxnews.com's Tongue Tied Column's Comments

Colleen S. writes: If Columbia University had a professor who was morally opposed to homosexuality, and he called for "one million Matthew Shepards," they'd fire him before the news hit the wires.

She wrote in response to this quote: "The only true heroes are those who find ways that help defeat the U.S. military," Nicholas De Genova, assistant professor of anthropology at Columbia University told the audience at Low Library Wednesday night. "I personally would like to see a million Mogadishus."

Nice catch of the inherent contradiction of what would be considered "hate speech" by the right but is merely "free speech" when said by the left. Well done Colleen.

"Tax Me More" Funds

A Chance to Put your Money Where Your Mouth Is

Okay all you taxes-are-too-low folks out there, here's your chance to lead by example. States Ask For 'Volunteer' Taxes

"State lawmakers across the nation have come up with an unusual alternative to raising taxes for their cash-strapped states: "Tax Me More" funds that rely on donations from taxpayers."

"To date, it has taken in between $2,000 and $3,000, according to his spokesman, Jim Harris."

Come one folks. If you TRULY believe that taxes are too low, you'll be the first one to sign up for this, right? Yeah, thought so. See you at the store.

Chiraq and the UN Helping in post-Saddam Iraq? Non!

Chiraq: Saddam is "a personal friend"

No role for France -- The Washington Times

In a documentary that aired Sunday night in Europe called "J'Accuse Jacques," journalist William Shawcross described how M. Chirac described Saddam as "a personal friend and a great statesman" and sold Iraq a breeder reactor, which Saddam called "the very first concrete step toward production of the Arab atomic bomb."

Scrappleface.com takes on the anti-US left

Terrorists Now Hate the US

Scott Ott, creator of ScrappleFace.com, presents a great take on the "war gives terrorists justification" argument.

ScrappleFace War Provides Terrorists Long-Awaited Motive

(2003-04-03) -- Terrorists worldwide say they finally have the long-awaited motive to attack civilians with bombs, guns, poison gas and even perhaps commercial airliners.

Speaking on behalf of the League of Islamic Extremists, Iranian President Mohammad Khatami warned on Thursday that the U.S.-led military assault on Iraq would increase violence and extremism in the world.

Until now, terrorists have waited for years, passively and peacefully, for an excuse to blow up buses, hijack planes and knock down buildings full of civilians.

"With this war you are giving a green light to extremist movements and violence-seekers to answer back your violence with violence," Mr. Khatami said.

An unnamed terrorist said he could hardly contain his enthusiasm at the Iranian leaders remarks.

"Now, we can act," said the terrorist. "These have been depressed times for the terror industry. We were out of work because we didn't have a reason to strike. That's all behind us now that the U.S. has invaded Iraq.

Middle Ages Warmer than Current Climate

More Bad News for the Doom and Gloom Enviromental Crowd

Telegraph | News | Middle Ages were warmer than today, say scientists

"Claims that man-made pollution is causing "unprecedented" global warming have been seriously undermined by new research which shows that the Earth was warmer during the Middle Ages."
